एक दी हुई रेखा पर स्थित एक बिन्दु से होकर लंब खींचना

इस रचना के लिए हमें एक रेखा l और उस पर स्थित कोई बिन्दु P दिया गया है। हमें रूलर और परकार की मदद से बिन्दु P पर रेखा l से लंबवत एक रेखा की रचना करनी है । यह रचना निम्नलिखित चरणों में पूरी की जा सकती है :

चरण 1 – P को केंद्र मानकर एक सुविधाजनक त्रिज्या लेकर एक चाप इस प्रकार बनाईये जो रेखा l को दो बिन्दों L और M पर काटे।

चरण 2 – L और M को केन्द्र मानकर LP से अधिक की त्रिज्या लेकर दो चाप बनाईये जो एक दूसरे को बिन्दु N पर काटें।

चरण 3 – N और P से होकर जाने वाली सरल रेखा m बनाईये । N और P से जाने वाली सरल रेखा m ही रेखा l पर लंब है। इसे m ⊥ l लिखा जाता है।

To construct a perpendicular to a line through a point on it

We are given a line l and a point P on that line. We need to construct perpendicular to the given line through the given point. This can be achieved in the following steps :

Step 1 – Taking P as a center and suitable radius, cut an arc which intersects the given line l at L and M.

Step 2 - With L and M as centers and radius more than LP, cut two arcs which intersect each other at point N.

Step 3 – Draw a line m through N and P. This line m is perpendicular to the given line l at point P. We write it as m ⊥ l.
