Some Pi Facts
  • In the Greek alphabet, p is the 16th letter (and 16 is the square of 4). In the English alphabet, p is also the 16th letter, and i is the 9th letter (the square of 3). Add them up (16 +9), and you get 25 (the square of 5). Multiply them (16 x 9), and you get 144 (the square of 12), divide 9/16, and you get 0.5625 (the square of 0.75). It’s no wonder that they say, “ Pi are squared.
  •  Pi is the number of times a circle's diameter will fit around its circumference.
  •  Here are the first 100 decimal places of PI

  •  The fraction (22 / 7) is a well-used number for Pi. It is accurate to 0.04025%.

  • There is no zero in the first 31 digits of Pi.
  • Pi is irrational. An irrational number is a number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of integers.

  • At position 763 there are six nines in a row. This is known as the Feynman Point.
  • Write the letters of the English alphabet, in capitals, clockwise around a circle,  and cross out the letters that have right-left symmetry,A,H,I,M, etc.The letters that remain group themselves in sets of 3,1,4,1, 6".
  • Pi is also referred to as the “circular constant,” “Archimedes’ constant,” or “ Ludolph’s number".
  • ”Pi Day” is celebrated on March 14 (which was chosen because it resembles 3.14).The official celebration begins at 1:59 p.m., to make an appropriate 3.14159 when combined with the date.
