Inequalities on Number Line

An inequality involve one of the four symbols. > , ≥ , < or ≤
The following statements illustrate the meaning of each of them.

                              x > 1 : x is greater than 1.
                              x ≥ -3 : x is greater than or equal to -3
                              x < 7 : x is less than 7
                              x ≤ -9 : x is less than or equal to -9

Inequalities can be represented on a number line , as shown in the following applet.

Note that solid mark(●) , is used to show that this value is included and hollow mark(Ο) is used to show that this value is not include. This is a Java Applet created using GeoGebra from www.geogebra.org - it looks like you don't have Java installed, please go to www.java.com
